modern slavery act document 2023
Soon after joining Michelin and the company learning about my editorial and design skills I was approach by the legal team to turn their Modern Slavery Document from a plain word document to a document which is easier on the eye and to read.
I was provided the full text from the document and instructed to redesign it in more of a modern fashion including appropriate imagery. The initial issue which I saw with the word document was that the line length of the copy was far too long causing people to lose focus whilst reading. Utilising a grid layout I reduced the line length from 15-20 words to an average of 5-8 to make the reading process easier. I brought hierarchy to the titles using the Michelin typeface and colour to make it easier for people to find the section they are most interested in. Finally I added in appropriate images to the document taking into consideration that this is a sensitive document.
Companies which have an annual turn over of £36 Million or more in the UK require a Modern Slavery Act document. This document must highlight what the company does to ensure that no modern slavery act laws are broken in the work place, resource plants or production and or service lines.
Companies must produce an annual modern slavery act document. In 2023 I was allocated the task designing the document in easy to read and editorial sound condition.
